WASHINGTON, DC, June 6, 2016 –The Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GWHCC) celebrated its annual Gala: Honoring Hispanic Businesses in Construction on June 3rd at the Omni Shoreham in Washington, DC. This year the GWHCC recognized five individuals in the construction sector who have excelled in various categories and celebrated its 40th anniversary.

WASHINGTON, DC –The Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GWHCC) will be celebrating its 40th Annual Gala: Honoring Hispanic Businesses in Construction on June 3rd at the Omni Shoreham in Washington, DC. This year the GWHCC will be recognizing five individuals in the construction sector who have excelled in various categories. The Gala Chairs are Edwin Villegas, President & CEO of Winmar Construction Inc. and Carlos Perdomo, CEO of Keystone Plus Construction Corporation. The event’s keynote speaker is David Velazquez, President & CEO of Pepco Holdings.

“This year the Chamber is celebrating its 40th anniversary! This is a significant milestone for us, the GWHCC and its members have come a long way since 1976,” said Angela Franco, President and CEO. “The GWHCC works every day to help businesses move forward and to build sectors that play an essential role within the community.”

Position Description:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Answer incoming calls or visits from clients and prospects
  • For prospective clients ask questions contained in targeted questionnaires to assist the Agent in preparing quotes. Assist prospects in completing the necessary applications to either obtain the quotes or issue the policies (whether online, in person or via mail).  Once the CSR is licensed the CSR will prepare and transmit quotes under the direction of the Agent.
  • For clients the CSR will assist them with making changes to their policies, answering questions and submitting claims
  • At the initial request of clients and after verifying that all policies are in force and paid to date, the CSR is to prepare and send to clients and Certificate Holders Certificates of Insurance under the direction of the Agent.  All Certificate information is to be checked for accuracy and to be signed by Agent.  Once the CSR is licensed, the CSR may sign the Certificate
  • Once the CSR has obtained his/her license he/she can advise clients regarding insurance coverage and risk management issues.
  • Process insurance policy changes, renewals and cancellations
  • Prepare Expiration Reports from our Agency Management System at least 90 days out and assist Agent with annual reviews, renewal quotes, cross sales and account rounding for existing Clients
  • Foster and maintain good working relationships with clients, insurance company underwriters, and referral sources
  • Document all interactions with clients, prospects, etc. both incoming and outgoing in Agency Management System
  • Scan all documents into Client and Prospect files in Agency Management Systems
  • At all times the CSR will endeavor to maintain high levels of confidentially and to protect and secure all Client and Prospect PII in accordance with Agency, HIPAA and other DC, VA, MD and Federal Regulations
  • Additional work as assigned by their Department Supervisor or Management



Requirements for Position

  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to handle and pacify sometimes difficult clients or prospects.
  • Effective communication skills – both verbal and non-verbal.
  • Must always be friendly and willing to provide assistance to others.
  • A good memory for remembering data and details.
  • Basic computer and typing skills – especially with Microsoft Office
  • Must be punctual at all times and able to put in flexible working hours.
  • A good listener with sound judgment.
  • Ability to cope in a fast paced job environment.
  • He/she must be able to critically analyze all situations and solve problems efficiently
  • Bilingual – English & Spanish (both written & verbal)
  • Must obtain Property/Casualty License within 6 months of beginning the position
  • Must be able to pass a full background check including the ability to be appointed by all our carriers (a criminal conviction of any crime involving “moral turpitude” would make the candidate ineligible for appointment and severally affect (if not prohibit) their ability to be licensed in DC, MD or VA
  • Candidate will sign a non-piracy and confidentiality Agreement upon immediate acceptance of the position

We do not require a College Degree and we will provide paid training including all licensing fees to be able to meet licensing requirements.  We will also pay for and encourage career development and continuing education and relevant college courses.  The pay will be commensurate with work experience and we include a full array of benefits – paid vacation, sick leave, paid Federal Holidays, fully paid health insurance, 401k plan with matching contributions up to 2% of salary.  Work at our Agency includes a significant level of community involvement and service.  We are an equal opportunity employer.
