English/Español DIRECTOR OF THE SBA METROPOLITAN AREA DISTRICT OFFICE TO ADDRESS GWHCC MEMBERS AND 8(A) CERTIFIED COMPANIES Washington, DC, Friday, October 14, 2011 – Bridget Bean, Director of the Small Business Administration’s Washington Metropolitan Area District Office will be the keynote speaker of a business reception with 8(a) Certified Companies, hosted by the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. The 8(a) Business Development Program exists to help small, disadvantaged businesses to compete. “This program opens doors for minority-owned local companies to gain access to the federal market,” Bridget Bean states. “Furthermore, 8(a) certified firms increase their chances in obtaining government contracts by teaming up with other companies. There are many success stories to celebrate and our office will continue working towards creating many more.” This is the third year that GWHCC and the SBA local office have collaborated to celebrate the success of 8(a) Certified companies in the region. “Our annual reception with 8(a) companies is one of the key networking opportunities that the Chamber brings to our members,” Angela Franco, GWHCC President & CEO affirms. “Thriving 8(a) companies and the entrepreneurs that drive their success are a source of inspiration for others looking forward to growing their companies.
