GWHCC and GWHCC Foundation Programs
Technical Assistance Program for Small Businesses and Start ups
GWHCC
partners with organizations such as Arlington Economic Development’s
BizLaunch office, DC Office on Latino Affairs, DC Department of Housing
and Community Development, Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic
Development and DC Office of Human Rights to develop and implement
programs that help Hispanic entrepreneurs successfully start and grow
their businesses. In the last fiscal year the Chamber helped more than
1,200 entrepreneurs and small business owners through one-to-one
technical assistance and business education.
Business Expo
Launched
in 2010, the annual Business Expo has become the Chamber’s prime event
to connect minority businesses with potential clients and organizations
that support their growth. The business expo is held at the Walter E.
Washington Convention Center during the first trimester of the year. The
business expo last March attracted more than 850 attendees and 80
exhibitors.
Annual Gala
The
Annual Gala is the Chamber’s most important fundraising initiative. It
serves as an opportunity for the Chamber to highlight the importance and
influence of the Hispanic business community in the DC Metropolitan
area and to celebrate the Chamber’s accomplishments with its members,
sponsors, partner organizations, corporations, and the community at
large.
Monthly Networking Events
The
Chamber hosts a networking event once a month. These events provide
members and friends with the opportunity to expand their contact base.
Many of the networking events are co-hosted by sponsors and other
organizations to bring new contacts and relationships to attendees.
Monthly Bilingual Educational Seminars
Each
month, the Chamber hosts educational and informational sessions with
interpretation in Spanish. Sponsors and members share their expertise in
relevant topics in an effort to further educate small business owners.
Chamber Committees
GWHCC
promotes the active participation of committee members to further
promote the growth of the Chamber initiatives. Among the active
committees are the Government Affairs Committee, the Fundraising
Committee and the Membership Committee. |
