The District of Columbia SBDC network is the only Districtwide, nationally accredited program that provides high quality one-on-one consulting, training and information resources to empower new and existing businesses. DC SBDC consultants work with entrepreneurs in confidential, individualized sessions to help them with a range of business issues including testing a new business proposition, shaping a business plan, investigating funding opportunities, and much more.
The GWHCC Foundation has partnered with the DC SBDC to become its newest incubator, which has enabled the Foundation to develop this new GWHCC Academy program. Incubators play a critical role in the success of businesses across a range of industries. They’ve been pivotal in creating an entrepreneurial culture that helps enable companies.
The primary goal of the GWHCC Academy will be to provide a wide range and variety of technical assistance services to small and local businesses located in, or wishing to locate in the District of Columbia. It will seek to provided business counseling, sponsored training events and disseminated information to both start-up ventures and existing small businesses in support of providing growth opportunities to the small business community.

DCSBDC is a partnership program nationally accredited by the Association of America’s SBDCs and funded in part by the U.S. Small Business Administration, Howard University, with Howard University serving as the network’s headquarters. DCSBDC services are extended to the public on a nondiscriminatory basis. Language assistance services are available for individuals with limited English proficiency.
