Promoting trade among the AmericansIn November 2014, GWHCC launched the “Promoting Trade Among the Americas” initiative to promote and encourage the use of existing trade agreements between the U.S. and Latin America. As part of the initiative, the Chamber hosted its first International Symposium on March 25, 2015. GWHCC currently has 25 international members from Latin America.

Diplomatic and Trade Missions
Joined by community leaders, partners, and representatives of the Washington region, GWHCC leads exploratory and business trade missions to countries in Latin America and the Caribbean with the means of cultivating a Sister City relationship and promoting tourism to the District. One of the biggest trade missions in which GWHCC was Cuba. Together, we have worked alongside Cuba, El Salvador, Puerto Rico and Nicole our president, went to Dubai for a Trade Mission.

Qatari Businesswomen Association, Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce sign MoU
Qatari Businesswomen Association (QBWA) and the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GWHCC) signed Monday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to encourage and facilitate economic cooperation between the two parties and to facilitate and promote small and medium enterprises in both Washington and Doha to increase trade and investment exchange between the two countries. Washington Regional Leaders to Join Hispanic Chamber on Exploratory Mission to Cuba
Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GWHCC) President and CEO Angela Franco today announced an historic regional exploratory mission to Cuba, February 20-25, 2016. The mission will include District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser, Montgomery County, Maryland Executive Ike Leggett, and Secretary of Commerce and Trade for the Commonwealth of Virginia Maurice Jones. Collectively, the delegation represents the strength and diversity of the regional economy, and affirms the region as a global leader in development, innovation, and international trade. The delegation included representatives from varying industries including consumer goods, finance, clean energy, insurance, security, and the creative arts/media. Moreover, Jackie Reyes from the Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs served as liaison between the DC government and Puerto Rico. Read more.
